Because Two Teenagers Could Dream...
we have the Youth Bike Summit. The support of community organizers in 2010 started it all.

THE LOVE OF BICYCLES
Alpha Barry, age 15 Recycle-A-Bicycle Youth Ambassador & Youth Bike Summit 2012 Keynote Speaker
“When I was a child, I had no idea that the new-found feeling of freedom that comes with learning to ride a bike would become a feeling I could return to forever. Now I understand that riding a bike is like visiting an old friend who will never ask you where you’ve been but will always tell you I’m glad you’re here.”

“During Hurricane Sandy, bikes were an essential part of our city’s recovery. With no traffic lights, no subway system, no bridges, no tunnels, and no electricity or internet, bikes became vehicles for sustenance and communication. I brought my blue Ross bike down 17 flights of stairs and rode all the way from China town to 39th Street for candles and batteries. I was glad to be able to lead others to do the same.”

STAYING ENGAGED IS IMPORTANT
Usman Zafar, sophomore & Youth Bike Summit 2017 Keynote Speaker
“I was this close to walking away from the sport entirely until the opportunity to lead DT racing came about. The thought of helping to build an organization, passing on all of my learnings over the years was appealing.”
